Recent Deloments of  Deferred Action for Dreamers

Recent developments of Deferred Action for dreamers:

On July 19, 2012, DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano testified before Congress about deferred action for dreamers. His testimony provided some new pieces of information about the program that was announced on June 15, 2012.

Age Eligibility: Applicants under the age of 31 on June 15, 2012, will be eligible to apply. DHS had previously indicated that applicants had to be no more than 30 in order to be eligible, leaving open the question of whether that means a person would be eligible until their 31st birthday, and if DHS considered the age of the person as of the application date or June 15, 2012.

Application process:

An announcement is anticipated for application procedures to be published on August 1, 2012

Submission of applications:

The application process is expected to begin on August 15. 20

Rates: $ 465 fee for both work authorization and biometrics. It is likely that there will be a separate deferred action request rate, but it is not clear if there is a fee waiver option
