Asylum Seekers

ILSOLI provides legal representation to immigrants seeking asylum because they faced persecution in their home country. To qualify, you must be in the United States and unable or unwilling to return to your country of origin because you have been persecuted in the past either by the government, or a group that the government is unable or unwilling to control; and/or you fear future persecution. You were targeted for persecution on account of your race, nationality, religion, political opinion, or membership in a particular social group.

Family-based Immigration

ILSOLI provides legal assistance and representation to U.S. citizens and legal permanent residents (LPRs) who want to bring family members to the United States, or permit family members already here to adjust their status.

Citizenship/Naturalization

ILSOLI offers legal assistance and representation to legal permanent residents (LPRs) who wish to apply and ultimately become U.S. citizens. From time to time, ILSOLI offers citizenship workshops throughout Long Island.

Court Representation/Appeals

ILSOLI provides immigrants in deportation proceedings with quality, affordable, legal representation, whether detained or not. We craft pragmatic and novel solutions throughout the deportation process - our ultimate goal, winning cases!

Immigrants who lost their cases before the immigration judge, can appeal that decision to the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA). ILSOLI’s appellate bureau is headed by our managing attorney. Because of the time sensitivity surrounding appeals, immigrants interested in obtaining a no-obligation interview should call and make an appointment as soon as possible.

 Traffic & criminal court

ILSOLI provides legal representation and assistance to clients who have been charged with criminal offenses. ILSOLI attorneys are experienced in advising clients on what the adverse impacts could be on their present or future immigration status by taking a plea agreement. For example, driving while intoxicated can have serious immigration consequences. Under certain conditions, legal permanent residents can lose their status if convicted of driving while intoxicated. ILSOLI attorneys will work hard with clients and the assistant District Attorney's office to ensure that any disposition reached will have minimal or non-impact on their criminal record and immigration status.

 Divorce / family court

ILSOLI attorneys represent clients that want a divorce only if it is uncontested.

ILSOLI attorneys also represent and assist clients in selected matters in Family Court. For example, ILSOLI attorneys will represent parents in the collection and enforcement of child support orders.

 Landlord - Tenant Matters

ILSOLI attorneys only represent tenants who are facing eviction. As part of the representation, the attorney will seek pragmatic solutions that bring about an acceptable agreement and end the litigation.
